Hunter L. Hunt

Hunt has a deep passion for community colleges that compelled him to join the Foundation board in 2005. Apart from his current post as immediate past chair of the board, he continues to provide his valuable expertise and support in other ways to advance the excellence of Dallas College and its service to the community.

Hunt is the former chair of the Foundation's STEM Initiative committee and helped expand the Dallas College STEM Institute through his support. He joined the Foundation’s executive team in 2010 as chairman-elect before assuming his post as chairman in 2012. Hunt served on the 2019 Dallas College Bond Campaign Committee Leadership team who was instrumental in securing Dallas County voters’ approval of the issuance of $1.1 billion bonds and notes to construct, improve, renovate, and equip buildings for Dallas College.

Hunter Hunt is Chairman and CEO of Hunt Energy, a private, family-owned energy company with a diverse portfolio of energy businesses that employs a community-centric, purpose-driven approach that creates long-term value for all stakeholders. Founded in 1934 and positioned across the energy spectrum, Hunt Energy is comprised of Hunt Oil Company, Hunt Refining Company, power-focused Hunt Energy Solutions, technology-focused Hunt Energy Enterprises, and Hunt Utility Services, which operates Sharyland Utilities, a Hunt-founded regulated electric utility that owns transmission assets in Texas. Hunter passionately believes that energy should be viewed in the service of humanity, and thus devotes his time to causes that promote community development and that broaden the inclusiveness of organizations focused on underserved communities. He serves on the boards of the Dallas College Foundation and the Dallas County Promise, serves as Treasurer of the Dallas Citizens Council, and chairs the Strategy Committee of Texas Health Resources, North Texas’ largest healthcare system. He is also co-founder of the Hunter and Stephanie Hunt Institute of Engineering and Humanity, which focuses on bringing innovative technological and business solutions to the global poor, and serves on the board of the Lyle School of Engineering at SMU. He and his wife Stephanie are currently surviving being the parents of teenage triplets.
