New Board Members Announced
Regen Horchow
Regen Horchow, a respected leader on issues impacting young children, has been on the Dallas College Foundation Board since 2018. She is president of the Hersh Foundation and manages the Horchow Family Office. The leader and co-founder of Early Matters in Dallas, Horchow was instrumental in the creation of Dallas College School of Education and co-chairs its Advisory Council. In addition, she serves on the boards of Southern Methodist University Simmons School of Education, Human Development at Southern Methodist University and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and on the University of Texas Southwestern President’s Advisory Board and the Executive Council of the Yale Child Study Center.
In the Dallas community, Horchow’s previous service includes leadership positions in the Zero to Five Funders Collaborative, Charter 100, Child Care Group, Commit Partnership, Dallas Assembly, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, Dallas Foundation, Educational First Steps, Girls’ Adventure Trails, The Hockaday School, Junior League of Dallas and Planned Parenthood. A Dallas native, Horchow is a graduate of The Hockaday School, Yale University and holds a Master of Education from the University of North Texas.
Jim Adams
Jim Adams is president of Binnean, LLC, and serves as a board member and advisor to family offices and families. He ran two different family offices in Dallas before retiring to pursue more focused, strategic involvement with families and family offices as well as nonprofit leadership opportunities. He has recently served as chair of Social Innovation Lab of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, as well as a vice chair of its Unite Forever Campaign. He has also recently been involved in fundraising for The Commit Partnership and Child Action Poverty Lab through their Opportunity 2040 Fund. Among the organizations he has served as a board member are Honored (a national nonprofit that celebrates teachers and promotes the teaching profession), Texas Methodist Foundation, YMCA of the Rockies, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
Adams began his career as a partner at Gardere Wynne Sewell, LLP. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science in finance from Louisiana State University.
Jorge Baldor
Jorge Baldor is the chairman of After8toEducate. Baldor was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States at age 6. His entrepreneurial spirit and relentless energy resulted in several projects and organizations aimed at empowering others and preparing the next generation of leaders, including Latino Center for Leadership Development, Latino Arts Project and After8toEducate. He currently serves on the board for Cara Mia Theater and Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts. He is a past chairman of Dallas Housing Authority Housing Solutions of North Texas and World Affairs Council of Dallas-Fort Worth.
Baldor was named one of Dallas’ New Latino Leaders by D Magazine and a 2016 Outstanding Latino Advocate by D CEO magazine. In 2018, he was nominated Texan of the Year by Dallas Morning News. He received the Ohtli Award for promoting Mexican culture for individuals living abroad. Baldor attended Dallas College El Centro and Brookhaven campuses and holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from Southern Methodist University, where he is recognized as a Distinguished Alumni.
Kathleen Gibson
Kathleen Gibson is a senior managing director on the partner advisory team of CH Investment Partners, where she focuses on firm-wide initiatives, cultivates new relationships and works directly with existing partner families and platform partners in a coverage and advisory role. She has served on the boards of Texas A&M Foundation, Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations, Texas Higher Education Foundation, Philanthropy Southwest, Visiting Nurses Association of Texas and LaunchBio, among others.
Gibson is a former president and CEO of Southwestern Medical Foundation and worked in financial services at Citibank, as president of Texas and Central U.S. Commercial and at Bank of America in various roles. She has a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and attended Southern Methodist University in Oxford and Russia.
Klint Guerry
Klint Guerry is a group vice president at Sewell Automotive Group and has served in leadership roles since joining the company in 2001. Guerry is author of A Guide to Self-Disruption, Five Principles and a Daily Process to Transform Your Life as well as the Gueri Notebook Companion. In addition to his service to Sewell and Dallas College Foundation, Guerry is on the board of directors for The Magdalen House and a number of industry-related committees and councils.
Guerry received a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from American Intercontinental University and completed the Teams Program at the Center for Creative Leadership, Leadership for Extraordinary Performance at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, and the Strategic Leadership program at the U.S. Army War College.
Whitney McKnight
Whitney McKnight is executive director of Muse Family Foundation, where she manages overall grant making and asset allocation strategy. Muse Family Foundation focuses on economic mobility initiatives, primarily in South Dallas. Previously, McKnight managed social and environmental investing initiatives first as agriculture portfolio manager at Village Capital, and then as a senior analyst at Chess Ag Capital Partners. She has served on Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas Community Board, Year-Up DFW Growth Taskforce, and University of California, Davis, College of Environmental and Agricultural Sciences Board.
McKnight is the daughter of John and Lyn Muse. Lyn Muse served on Dallas College Foundation board from 2002 to 2015. McKnight has a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from University of San Diego and a Master of Science in international agricultural development and agricultural resource economics from University of California, Davis.
Peter L. Sefzik
Peter L. Sefzik is senior executive vice president, chief banking officer at Comerica Bank and a member of Comerica’s Management Executive Committee. He is a board member of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and Consumer Bankers Association.
Sefzik began his banking career at Comerica as a credit analyst in 1999, serving in roles with increasing scope and responsibility that included regional managing director, Texas market president, and executive director, commercial bank. He has a bachelor’s degree in international relations and a Master of Business Administration in international management from Baylor University. He has a Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University.
Gretchen Minyard Williams
Gretchen Williams is a licensed real estate agent for Ebby Halliday Realtors. She and her family helped build Texas-based Minyard Food Stores Inc. into one of the nation’s largest supermarket chains. Williams is a strong supporter of higher education and has received the Family of the Year Award from YWCA and the Russell Perry Free Enterprise Award from Dallas Baptist University.
Her board affiliations include Baylor University Medical Center, Highgrounds Advisors, Leukemia Texas (co-chair emeritus), MetroTex Association of Realtors, Ebby Halliday Foundation, Oak Hill Academy, Crystal Charity Ball, Junior League of Dallas and Dallas Mavericks Foundation. From July 2021 through May 2022 Williams served on Dallas College Board of Trustees in a seat that was previously held by her husband. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Christian University.
The Dallas County Promise, powered by Dallas College and the Commit Partnership, is pleased to announce a series of new investments, including an unprecedented $60 million multi-year investment from the O'Donnell Foundation to dramatically expand student supports that will substantially increase economic mobility across Dallas County. $30 million of this investment from the O’Donnell Foundation represents a direct gift to Dallas College Foundation, the largest private gift in Dallas College’s history. Dallas College Foundation will be supporting the Promise scholarship program while broadening tuition and other forms of support to additional groups of students, helping create pathways to thriving-wage careers for more students in Dallas County.
