Frequently Asked Questions
I am a non-traditional age student, are there scholarships available?
There are no age restrictions on many Foundation scholarships, and there are no age restrictions on federal student aid eligibility. Federal financial aid is not age-restricted, so a student over the age of 30 may be eligible to receive funds from the government.
Can I save my application and come back later?
Yes! You may save your General Scholarship Application or individual scholarship application. Scholarship opportunities that have been saved will show as 'Drafted' on the 'Home' tab.
How do I search for scholarships?
Log into the system and click on the 'Show Filters' button, then you can search all scholarships by keyword, field of study, interests and/or campus.
As a Promise or Rising Star student am I eligible for other Foundation scholarships?
No, due to Promise and Rising Star scholarships covering all tuition (books included).
I completed the General Application and I do not have Import Information.
Dallas College information is imported several times per week. If this is your first time filling out an application, we encourage you to review your application for imported information the next business day.
I reviewed my Import information and information is incorrect. How do I correct the information?
You cannot make updates to the imported Dallas College information directly on your application. You must contact the Admissions/Registrar's Office if you have concerns about your information.
How can I tell if my reference has submitted the letter?
Once you sign in, please click the reference tab to view the status of your recommendation/reference request. You have the option to resend the request for a reference.
Can I change my reference contact?
Yes, but it must be before the scholarship deadline. Sign into your application, click on the "my applications" tab, select the application you want to update then save and submit.
How can I see the scholarship opportunities that I was automatically matched to?
Students are only able to review the scholarships for which they supplied additional information and submitted an application. Students may see scholarships that do not require additional action by clicking the “ALL” tab to review criteria.
Do I need to complete the FAFSA?
Some scholarships awarded through this competitive application process require the recipient to show financial need as determined by the annual Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All newly admitted and continuing Dallas College students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA, regardless of family income. There is no application fee, and the eligibility information received from the application will assist with budgeting for educational related expenses.
Complete the FAFSA online at fafsa.gov.
Why does my Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) say 99999?
For all students that Dallas College has not received a FAFSA, the EFC will have the default value of 99999. Once Dallas College has received the appropriate FAFSA information, the EFC will be updated automatically.
Why is my Fall (or Spring) enrollment blank?
This information will be populated automatically with your Fall and Spring enrollment once you have registered.
When will I know if I have been awarded?
You can log into the system after the deadline date and check the status of your application. If you are offered a scholarship, you will receive an email notifying you of your award 2-3 weeks after the deadline date.
If you are offered a scholarship, you will receive an email offer with instructions with how to accept the award. Also, you may sign into myscholarships at any time to view the status of your applications.
