About the Symposium:
This year the “Mental Health Fitness – Survive & Thrive Symposium” will be virtual on Thursday, December 3, 2020, from 9 am to 3 pm. The symposium is designed to raise awareness of the importance of mental health wellness and provide education about the many life challenges of those who have or will experience intense stress, basic needs insecurities, trauma, or mental illness.
Symposium Topics and Learning Outcomes: The conference will focus on the Dallas College Sustainable Development Goals which are part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: #3 Good Health and Well-being, #4 Quality Education, #10 Reduced Inequalities, #16 Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and #17 Partnerships for the Goals
Learning Outcomes:
- Increase awareness of mental health challenges, risk factors, warning signs
- Learn strategies for how to help someone in distress and/or crisis
- Enhance participant self-care and mental health wellness
- Focus on the importance of social connections, strengths, and resources
- Decrease the stigma of mental illness
